Cli-fi in a nutshell

What has popularized and expanded the hermeneutic range of cli-fi has in some ways also made the rising new genre seem immune to the challenges presented by so much of modern literary criticism. Propelled and positioned within a context of literary genres increasingly popular and open to all , direct effects of our and our ancestors’ behaviors, cli-fi — seeking and espousing an immediacy and directness vis-a-vis the fate of humankind as severe global warming impact events loom in the distant future  — has found a wide and largely enthusiastic audience worldwide. The space within cli-fi has become one of considerable openness. The more novelists write about representations of climate change, the more it becomes clear that there is a need not only for permeable literary borders but also for a more definitive structure, methodology and terminology.'
