The science is documented.  Gail currently works on preventing the completion of an unnecessary pipeline through Massachusetts that would allow fracked gas to be shipped to Canada and on to Europe.

''CALAMITY'' is a timely novel dealing with the climate crisis. It is based on documented facts and some true stories.
The book opens with a description of mammoth holes that actually exist in the Arctic. It continues with a trip to Siberia by a stunning superstar TV anchor, a renowned scientist and a lecherous Senator. A worldwide pandemic results when they return caused by exposure to an ancient creature that emerged from the thawing permafrost. The most important part of the book is its focus on methane being released in the Arctic that could lead to runaway climate change. Our fictionalized scientist thinks it might, and the anchor finds it increasingly hard to doubt his reasoning, let alone resist his advances. Their challenge is to convince the Government to take impending disaster seriously and do something about it. At the same time, the anchor needs to avoid numerous threats and potentially lethal attacks.
One example of the attacks follows:
Before Camellia could react, she was grabbed from behind, and a burlap sack was pulled down over her head. She was picked up and dumped into the trunk of a Lincoln Continental. The lid was slammed down, and the tires squealed as it took off. He planned to kill her. That was certain. Kyle wouldn’t be able to save her. She would have to save herself. But how?
