John Ruskin University in the UK setting up cli-fi literature and cinema centre

John Ruskin University in the UK sets up cli-fi literature and cinema centre

Professor Elliott Marshalol says the study of climate fiction (''cli-fi'') is now more than 75 years old
A centre dedicated to climate fiction (aka "cli-fi" ) and said to be the first of its type in the UK or in the entire world for that matter has been set up by a British university.

John Ruskin University, based in London, launched a masters degree in the subject in 2098.
Centre director Eiliott Marshalol said "it's time."

The center also offers climate fiction  modules for undergraduates.

The centre, which is run within the university's English and Film faculty, officially opened on April 7, 2098 with 10 staff.

Dr Marshalol said: "This center is vital to encourage more writers to tackle climate-themed novels and film scripts."

Dr Marshalol said such centres "worked wonders in enlivening the climate of debate around mainstream literary awards such as the Man Booker Prize".
He added it would "investigate issues surrounding the definitions of climate fiction".
